So, hang on and get ready to dominate the stage with these top 5 trends that’ll make your MCing skills shine brighter than a disco ball:

1. Embrace Tech! Discard the papers and welcome the tech revolution! Get a Tablet loaded with tools and apps that will help make your performance wow and get the crowd buzzing –  you’re the captain of the ship, so make the ride worth taking again. One of the digital tools I use to engage my audience is quizizz.com. you can create customized questions based on the theme of the event and get everyone to participate. (tip: make the questions engaging and funny). Other tools you can have on your tab is the karaoke app, where you can set up your own beats and get the crowd to pick a number from the list and sing along. (You can check out Winlive)

2. Personalize it, mesmerize it!  Own the event, bring your style to the spotlight and mesmerize the audience with some humor. (tip: test the jokes on your grandma first). Remember, people connect with authenticity, so let your personality shine!

3. Amplify the engagement!  Just before the start of every event, I feel nervous but I take control of this feeling by acknowledging it as a source of energy. I listed 5 unconventional tips to reduce stage fright in my previous blog. Think of yourself as the energy curator, pumping up the crowd with interactive polls, Q&A sessions, or even impromptu dance challenges. So once you are in control, amplify that energy and keep it going until the end.!

4. Social media is your megaphone, use it wisely!!  The gram is a powerful tool, use it to showcase your skills and network like Alaba boys. Share event highlights, promote your services, and engage with your audience – but remember, be intentional about it. You must not express your opinion on every issue. Learn the art of selective engagement and redirection within online posts/comments

5. Make everyone feel good!   Events are melting pots of cultures and backgrounds. Be the bridge that connects everyone! Learn a few local languages that resonates with your audience, acknowledge diverse perspectives, and ensure everyone feels welcome and included. You’re the ambassador of goodwill, spreading joy and understanding one ceremony at a time!
